Just Because We Don't Know

Thursday, June 30, 2005

Over the last few months, I've been teaching myself to play the guitar. Things have been rather dull in my life lately (summer vacation), so I decided to try my hand at a little song writing. I downloaded some free software called "Audacity" and recorded it as I sat in front of my computer. The product of this effort is a song about the Intelligent Design movement called "Just Because We Don't Know."

The sound quality is horrendous, but I thought it would be fun to put it out there and see what people think. You can download it by right-clicking on the song title above and selecting "Save Target As."

Enjoy!

*UPDATE: October 26th, 2005

I re-recorded the song with a drum loop behind it. It sounds a lot better. You can listen to the new version by clicking on the original link.

KCFS Discussion Forum

Sunday, June 26, 2005

Lately, I've been posting a lot over on the KCFS discussion forums. I recently submitted an extremely long post that analyzed one of the many "interesting" claims of YEC Walter Brown. In his book, he claims that all members of the family Canidae are probably descended from a "wolflike animal" that was lucky enough to be taken on the Ark.

I attempted to demonstrate that his scenario was highly unlikely. Here is the post. Let me know what you think.

Here's a little taste of what I wrote:
"In summary, in order for Walt Brown’s dog microevolution scenario to actually work, he demands much more out of natural processes than the actual scientific evidence supports.

"The above analysis is just an overly verbose way of saying that Walt Brown’s dog “microevolution” scenario is fantastically unlikely. Walt apparently believes with uncompromising conviction that the survivors of a single, catastrophic, global flood were the ultimate source of the biological diversity we see today. Unfortunately, this belief forces him to construct scenarios that overstretch the ability of natural processes to produce biological change."
